The ‘Safety in the Petroleum Industry’ virtual interactive symposium to be held by the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) this September 21st-23rd will provide presentations developed from combining lessons learned from the current oil discharge disaster in the Gulf of Mexico with best practices gleaned from decades of collective industry experience.
The symposium webcasts will be delivered live online and be available for on-demand viewing by attendees. It will focus on three key areas which include 1) how emerging safety and health issues are changing the industry’s landscape and presenting new challenges for safety professionals and impacting their sphere of influence; 2) the importance of environmental issues for safety professionals in the oil and gas industry and their responsibilities related to their organization’s environmental challenges; and, 3) emergency response planning, execution and how safety professionals in the petroleum industry play a significant role in planning and overseeing the response for these events, especially utilizing new technology.
The cost for ASSE members before September 6th is $195 and $225 afterwards. Group discounts are available. Go to www.asse.org/education/petrosafety/ for additional information about this symposium and to register.
