E-Mail has been used for decades, but still people don’t seem to understand how counterproductive it can be when not used as thoughtfully as it should be. But e-mail is hardly the only form of e-communication now being used in business, as is indicated by the title of the new ASFE Practice Alert 46: E-Mail, Instant Messaging, Texting, and Other Forms of Electronic Communication.
Developed by ASFE’s Member Services Committee, the newest ASFE Practice Alert updates and expands the earlier, Practice Education Committee-developed ASFE Practice Alert 21 that focused solely on e-mail. The Committee organized the new Practice Alert as a series of five problems, each accompanied by suggested solutions. For example, “Problem: Failure To Treat E-Communication as Formal Communication” is addressed through 15 suggestions.
