| Services: | S&ME was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1973, operating under the name "Soil & Materials Engineers." In 1988 it became an employed-owned company and the name changed to S&ME, Inc. The Richmond branch began in 1987 as Virginia Geotechnical Services, P.C. and was acquired in June 2006 by S&ME. S&ME projects have won 60 Engineering Excellence Awards in competitions directed by state member organizations of the American Council of Engineering Companies. The entries have come from each of the firm’s major service areas, and several have received the highest level of awards presented. During this period, S&ME has been continuously ranked in Engineering News-Record magazine's annual listings of the nation's top engineering firms. These include the Top 500 Design Firms (consistently in the upper third), Top 100 "Pure" Designers (traditional engineering). |
